BACKGROUND

Rory Michelle was raised in West Babylon, NY and grew up in Cambridge, MA. She has been singing and writing songs since she was 2 1/2 years old ("Bum Bum Goes the Drum!"). Her formal training began in high school. At the end of high school, Rory Michelle was extremely fortunate to receive a grant from the West Babylon Music Parents' Association for a two week vocal masterclass with operatic soprano Sona Ghazarian at the Universitat fur Musik und Darnstelle Kunst in Vienna, Austria. She continued formal vocal training under operatic soprano Anna Gabrielli while at Harvard University, supported in part through the Office for the Arts at Harvard's Music Lesson Subsidy Program.
Rory Michelle picked up guitar in the spring of 2011 with the help of Mike at the magical small shop Sandy's Music in Central Square, Cambridge. In the spring of 2012 she took a "Music Theory for Singer-Songwriters" class under Chris Brenne at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education, and the rest of the story you can hear on the album!

Rory Michelle Sullivan is a singer-songwriter, recording artist, producer, and composer.
Rory Michelle has been singing and writing songs since she was 2 1/2 years old ("Bum Bum Goes the Drum!"). Her formal vocal training began at age 14. At the end of high school, she was fortunate to receive a grant from the West Babylon Music Parents' Association for a two week vocal masterclass with operatic soprano Sona Ghazarian at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien in Vienna, Austria. Rory Michelle credits discovering The Artist's Way in 2009 and a facilitated Artist's Way course with facilitator Kim Childs in 2011 with providing the foundation for her artistic pursuits. She picked up guitar in the spring of 2011 with the help of Mike at the magical small shop Sandy's Music in Central Square, Cambridge. In the spring of 2012 she took a "Music Theory for Singer-Songwriters" class under Chris Brenne at the Cambridge Center for Adult Education. On January 13, 2013 (her 26th birthday), Rory Michelle's first album, Turtledove, was independently released thanks to Oasis CD. Find the music and lyrics of Turtledove on the music tab.
After an eight-year stint in Cambridge, MA, Rory Michelle lived five months in Vienna, Austria, where she collaborated with an exciting round-up of local musicians to color her second album, Inner Child. She next studied at Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem, Israel, developing the music for her most recent project: The God Album. Recording and releasing the music for The God Album was made possible by many generous friends, family, and fans through Kickstarter and gofundme.
